PSE Kinsale Energy Limited, (formerly Marathon Oil Ireland Limited), has been producing natural gas from its facilities off the Old Head of Kinsale since 1978. The company was acquired by PETRONAS in April 2009 and currently employs 59 people. They operate the Kinsale Head, Ballycotton and Seven Heads Gas Fields in the Celtic Sea. Kinsale Energy Limited also operates a natural gas storage field (Southwest Kinsale) and is planning to expand the gas storage business over the coming years.
